CBRE and its employees donate $260.000 to American Red Cross Haiti relief effort
CB Richard Ellis Group, Inc. (NYSE:CBG) and its employees have donated $260,000 to the American Red Cross' efforts to aid the three million people affected by Haiti’s devastating earthquake.
“We are all deeply moved by the trauma, pain and destruction inflicted by the earthquake in Haiti. CBRE and our employees began a fundraising campaign almost immediately after the disaster struck. Our people around the globe are proud to do their part to help the Haitian people in their time of significant need,” said Mike J. Lafitte, President, Americas, CB Richard Ellis.
Since the effort began in late January, CBRE employees have contributed $173,000 to the American Red Cross' Haiti Relief and Development Fund. The CB Richard Ellis Foundation matched 50% of that amount, bringing the total contribution to $260,000. The fundraising campaign will continue through the end of March 2010.
The Haiti Relief Effort is already the largest single-country personnel deployment in global Red Cross history. The Red Cross has sent more relief units to Haiti than the combined Tsunami relief operation, an emergency that spanned 14 countries, and teams are working tirelessly to provide basic needs to the victims. CB Richard Ellis has a long history of responding to natural disasters, including Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Ike, the Southern California wildfires and the Asian tsunami.
